Deborah at Work was shot in 2024 in New York City and completed March, 2025.
LOGLINE: After throwing a birthday party for her boss Deborah finds herself in an unexpected sparring match with the office’s intelligent cleaning robot, unearthing startling revelations about her past and the possibility of a remarkable new future. DEVELOPMENT: I began writing this script from a meditation on the road not taken, what if... what if..., and also thinking about my mother who died in 2020 and all the ways she does and does not live in me. I worked on the script for about a year, bringing draft after draft to my writing group, The Yellow Table, as they adeptly helped me realize the story. I then was able to share it with my dear friend and extraordinary producer, Brady Kirchberg, and we got to work making it happen. The movie is set in New York City, 2041. To help bring the year 2041 to life, post-production involved extensive VFX work to showcase the technological overload our near future. From holographic desks and the UI of your robotic assistant, to life on a NYC street, we wanted to deliver a provocative and realistic vision of the not-too-distant tomorrow.
